Philips Hue has updated the Centura recessed spotlight. The latest version of the smart light uses the new GU10 light source, which launched earlier this year. The Centura is the latest spotlight from the brand to receive this upgrade.
The new Centura spotlight will have a higher brightness level of 400 lumens, having previously peaked at 350 lumens when measured at 4,000K. Plus, the light source has a significantly longer life expectancy of 25,000 hours; the original model was only forecast to last for 15,000 hours. The wattage has also changed, now at 4.2W rather than 5.5W. Otherwise, the models have similar features. You can use Bluetooth to remotely control the light via the Philips Hue app or link it with other smart lights via a Hue Bridge, unlocking other features like voice commands and integrations with other smart home platforms.
The new Philips Hue Centura recessed spotlight is the same price as its predecessor, costing £59.99/€69.99. A 3-pack is also available, priced at £159.99/€189.99, meaning you save £19.98/€19.98. If you purchase from a third-party retailer rather than directly from Philips Hue, it is worth double-checking that you are buying the latest version of the product.
