Despite unveiling Lunar Lake last month, Intel has kept a tight lid on its performance metrics. For now, we have to rely on Geekbench listings spotted online and testimonies of a few lucky users who got their Lunar Lake laptops early. Now, the Core Ultra 7 258V has been spotted on Blender's benchmark database.
It scores 127.69 points in the benchmark, essentially performing on par with a Tiger Lake-H part at a fraction of the TDP. Looking at more modern CPUs, the Core Ultra 7 258V can trade blows with a mid-range Ryzen 7000HS processor and even the base Apple M3 variant.
Plus, the Core Ultra 8 258V will get better with subsequent software updates. The fact that Intel can deliver Rocker Lake desktop-level of performance at 17 Watts is nothing short of impressive. Unfortunately, there's no information about which laptop the sample was tested in, and it's hard to zero-in, given the sheer number of models announced at IFA 2024.
