The camera and display test results of Google Pixel 9 from DxOMark are out. In terms of the camera, the Android phone has got impressive scores for its class. It has achieved a total score of 154 points, beating the Pixel 8 with 6 points lead. With this, the affordable smartphone from Google's latest line has secured the first spot in the "Premium" ranking of DxOMark.

For reference, the French benchmarking firm DxOMark puts phones between $600 and $800 on the "Premium" list, and Pixel 9 starts at $799 (get a $100 free gift card on pre-order). As for how the phone compares with all the smartphones the firm has tested, it achieves the 7th spot. That essentially makes the device comparable to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max in the "Global" ranking.

DxOMark notes that the Google Pixel 9 can offer vibrant colors and retain skin tones in pictures. The camera setup also captures images with accurate exposure and features a wide dynamic range. Regarding videos, the Android phone is said to provide stable footage with rich colors and high detail in different conditions.

However, due to the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera, it doesn't excel in terms of zoomed shots. DxOMark recommends the Pixel 9 for those who often take portrait and group photos and videos. It's also great for lowlight conditions. Another thing worth noting is that the overall camera score of the phone puts it higher than the Pixel 8 Pro. So, it's a solid generational upgrade, at least according to DxOMark.

As for the display results, the most affordable phone from the latest Pixel series did well in DxOMark's tests. It achieved an overall score of 156. To compare, the current phone in the first position on the "Global" list, the Pixel 9 Pro XL, achieved 158 points. So, it's only slightly behind.
